The Ceramic Flower
The Ceramic Flower
Elegant ceramic flowers hand crafted by Sylvia Sinel. These delicate pieces bloom all year round and brighten up any living space. Their irregularity reflect the artisanal beauty of hand sculpting, making each piece one of a kind.
Have one on its own or in a bouquet, both equally appealing to the eye.
The Making:
"Flower making has become quite a meditative process. A couple of times a year I turn on a good podcast and sit down in my studio with a lot of clay balls and then start pinching them into shape one at a time. It's become a nice and familiar routine and I have a little factory going for a few days.
The ceramic process is slow, once you've made something it has to dry out for a few days (in winter it can be weeks) then fired a 1st time. Then it's time for glazing, that's the colouring part, and then it's time for the glaze firing. It usually takes 2-4 weeks until you have the finished product in your hand. Lots go wrong along the way, they crack or the glazing doesn't work out. It's unpredictable and I think it's part of my fascination for the ceramic medium. You can never master it fully and it's a labour of love more than anything else." - Sylvia Sinel
Note: These Ceramic Flowers are top heavy. We recommend using floral foam within your container to support the weight. We recommend using an oasis inside your vase to hold the flowers securely upright. Ceramic flowers sold individually. Vase not included in purchase.
