Why are these bulbs pre-chilled?
Tulips naturally need a cold period to bloom well. In cooler climates, this happens in the ground over winter. But in warmer areas (anywhere north of Christchurch), the soil doesn’t stay cold long enough.
Pre-chilled bulbs have already gone through that chill time in cold storage—so you can plant them straight away and still enjoy tall stems and healthy blooms in spring.
