Meta's Mindful Christmas Ahead

Meta's Mindful Christmas Ahead

Kia Ora and Meri Kirihimete! Hello and Merry Christmas!

As Christmas preparation for Aotearoa is in full swing, we just wanted to send out a message for this holiday period.

Our message to you this holiday season is to make beautiful choices.

This means to choose to buy locally, supporting small Aotearoa businesses, choose to prioritise quality time with loved ones, choose to give yourself a break and use the time to reset yourself - perhaps breaking bad habits and forming good ones at the same time.

All for the sake of being a better human for tomorrow.

In this blog we'd like to share just a few mindful consumption tips while you do your shopping and share a small list of our favourite conscious small labels to support this holiday season.

 A Few Mindful Tips

1. Be organised and don’t leave everything until the last minute

Convenience produces a lot of waste and if we get organised and purchase the right things when needed, we can avoid or minimise unnecessary waste and save a little bit of our own time and energy too.

2. Support and shop locally if possible

Buying from your local gift store and supporting the smaller retailers is more important than ever. Not only does it give a lifeline needed now more than ever but it also minimises transport costs and materials required.

3. Buying what the recipient actually needs and will use

Make sure to gift something thoughtful, even if it's just that person's favourite treat or flowers. If unsure and you still need to purchase something, gift cards are a great option.

4. Wrap presents consciously

Get creative with leftover materials and things you have in the house already. Last year we gifted items in fabrics which we took back and repurposed. Kraft paper also gives a a sophisticated and minimal aesthetic without any potentially harmful plastics or chemicals when discarded.
